Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Kura Tuarua o Taoroa - Trident High School.

I am privileged to have joined Trident High School at the beginning of 2024. Thank you to the Whakatāne community for warmly welcoming my whānau and me to the area.

A little bit about myself: I am a lifelong sports enthusiast and a massive Warriors fan. I have two young children and have spent my entire career in education.

My philosophy on education is twofold:

  1. To prepare our students with essential soft skills such as effective communication, work ethic, respect, and integrity, which are crucial for navigating an ever-changing world.

  2. To provide our students with as many options as possible by helping them achieve the best qualifications.

As a passionate lifelong learner and educator, I became a teacher to create opportunities and reduce inequities in our system. I am committed to helping every student I encounter. I believe that education extends beyond the classroom and that students find success and learning in the arts, sports, leadership, and academics. I am dedicated to offering our students holistic opportunities in all these areas.

Having two children has deepened my commitment to creating the best educational opportunities for our community and my own family. Every decision I make and every opportunity I provide at Trident High School is in the best interest of our students and community.

Join us at Trident and become part of a community dedicated to fostering growth, inspiring greatness, and shaping the leaders of tomorrow.

Ko te manu e kai ana i te miro, nōnā te ngahere; ko te manu e kai ana i te matauranga, nōnā te ao. The bird that consumes the miro berry owns the forest; the bird that consumes knowledge owns the world.

Ngā mihi nui,
Mikaere October
