English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programmes teach English to people whose first language is not English but who live in an English-speaking country and require English for daily communication.

At Trident High School, our students have access to a learning support person who works alongside them in the Learning Village New Zealand. The program aims to help students develop the English language skills necessary for effective participation. The Learning Village is an image-based English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme for learners in English-medium schools, following a blended approach. It uses blended learning resources to teach EAL, SEN, and low-level literacy, with images serving as the language of instruction for learners of ANY language. The Learning Village New Zealand aims to support students in developing the English language skills necessary for effective participation.
